For those of you who stumbled on this site expecting to see a girl on crack, sorry to disappoint. Nope, all you get here is me and my ramblings about fun stuff to do in Los Angeles.
Ya see, I’ve lived in the city for over a decade and even though I really hated it at first (being from NorCal), eventually I fell in love with its diversity and its culture. Yes, I said “culture”…in L.A. You can never get bored here, and if you do manage to, well then, you’re just lazy. There’s always a festival, a city tour, a new exhibit, a new bar, a new restaurant or a new store to check out.
Unfortunately I can’t do it all, but I love researching and exploring what’s going on in L.A. I’m not a professional movie critic, music reviewer or restaurant connoisseur but eventually my Googled knowledge paid off for friends looking for places to take first dates, interesting attractions for out-of-town guests or fun venues to celebrate birthdays. Michael (Oh, Great and Powerful Webmaster) started calling me “Carosearch” and said I should start charging for my information.
But we started this blog instead. Here reside my reviews of things that popped up on my radar and occasionally I’ve actually visited/tested/bought the things I write about.
Also, on the right side of the page, we’ve got some stuff every culturally growing Angeleno needs: a constantly updated calendar of L.A. events, links to Sigalert and David Lynch’s daily weather report, and popular L.A. guides and L.A. blogs.
As for my being on crack…the name came from my sister for my reviews page when we tried to start our own online zine back in the day and I thought it appropriate for this blog.
Feel free to drop me a note at carolineoncrack [at] gmail.com with tips, compliments or criticisms. I’m bored. However, know that even though I value your thoughtful opinions and encourage you to leave a comment, don’t be offended if I edit them for clarity or to keep out questionable matters. I may, however, delete off-topic comments.
Regarding my blogroll, please don’t email me requesting to be linked on it. It’s not like that. It’s strictly for L.A. resources for going out and stuff…and peeps I actually hang out with. So please don’t take offense if I don’t respond to your request. Thanks for your interest though!
Also, if you’re into taking pictures of L.A. nightlife, check out the L.A. Nightlife Group on Flickr. Feel free to submit your own photos.
