4 Ways To Be Safe on Alcoholidays

Getting Bombed.

Getting Bombed.

Be safe tonight, well really every night you drink, my dear crackheads. Lots of drinkers out there, and worse yet, most still insist on driving even while intoxicated. Crazy, I know. But you know better because you’ll do one of the following:

1) Use a Breathalyzer before you jump in behind the wheel. If you don’t already have one, you can download DrinkTracker‘s app which helps you keep track of how much booze you’ve ingested. It’s easier to log wine and beer on this app but it’s the cocktails that get tricky. Still, better than nothing. Keep in mind, just because you feel fine and your friends say you seem fine, doesn’t mean that you are.

2) If you don’t have a Breathalyzer or an iPhone to download that app, a handy guideline is that you should figure roughly one hour per drink (of course you have to factor in your weight and height). But to play it safe, make it an hour and a half. Or check this BAC chart on Wikipedia that lists approximate blood alcohol percentage according to weight and how many drinks you had.

3) Failing your Breathalyzer, by all means call a cab. There are plenty of them in L.A. Here’s a bunch of them just in case you get a busy signal on one.

4) Call a designated driver. If you find that all your designated drivers are in fact as drunk as you this St. Paddy’s Day, call Designated Driver Services (800) 670-0959. Two DDs arrive at your location and one drives you and your car home while the other one follows. It’s $50 for the first 10 miles but that’s a heck of a lot cheaper than getting a DUI. Or there’s Y Drive LA which you can usually find at valet stands. Look for the guys wearing silver jackets. Or call them at (888) 401-3847.

Be safe out there. I want you to live to drink another day.

“Alcoholidays” is a really clever way to describe days like St. Patrick’s Day. Will you have an updated post for Cinco de Mayo?

    Noms,
    LOL thanks.

    Food GPS,
Yeah, I got that term from somewhere. Don’t know where but I see that it’s on Urban Dictionary now. Yes, will do an updated post for Cinco if I can find more options.

Man, I wish that LA weren’t so spread out, or that our public transportation wasn’t so damn shoddy!!

But, these options are good ones! I didn’t know about the DD options.
    Thanks!

And don’t drink green beer. Nothing good has EVER come from drinking green beer.
