Had the Comme Ca Agave Disparo ($12) with Herradura silver tequila, lime juice, grenadine, orange blossom water, lemon soda.
Great cocktail for those looking for something light and it’s not too intimidating for a tequila drink. It’s poured over a huuuge block of ice so not really much liquid to it. I tried to stretch mine out by sipping on it while enjoying the endive salad.
Personally I prefer my cocktails more potent and aromatic, especially when there’s so little of it.

Come one Caroline, don’t you have some connections! That massive BLOCK OF ICE Comme Ca serves in the majority of their drinks makes you feel ripped off. It’s like, come on, I’m paying $12 for a cocktail, the least you can do is serve it in a (slightly?) larger glass, or reduce the BLOCK size somewhat. It made me feel like I was in Tijuana and everyone was conspiring against me getting a real drink for my dollar!
Yes, a smaller cube would have been nice but I don’t think I could ever say to a bartender, “Hey, can you pour more cocktail and use less ice?” Unless I was paying for the extra shot.
Actually, there is a science to that big block of ice. With one big chunk of ice as opposed to a lot of smaller pieces, you are decreasing the surface area of the ice. Decreased surface area = slower melting time. It keeps you drink colder for longer.
Yes, it does feel like a rip-off, but a lot of cocktail purists will say that this is the ideal way to enjoy a cocktail. Either way, $12 for a cocktail always makes me cringe.
Well, I wouldn’t have minded if the block of ice were a wee bit smaller. More drink, please!
