That’s why I suggested the splash of water, Michel. Besides which, we’re not always going to have access to fancy ice. But if you have whiskey stones on hand, chances are good that you’ll have access to decent water.

So the reason one puts ice into a scotch is not only to chill it but to give it a little dilution. That water opens it up, it’s like seeing a rose open up, but with your taste buds!! Frozen rocks can’t give you that;)

I don’t like scotch usually but Macallan is so different. Not peaty or smokey like typical scotch. I heard about those whiskey stones. Apparently they’re a big seller at the Bar Keeper store in Silver Lake.

Hey, I thought you didn’t like scotch. When were you converted?

For times that you can’t get fancy ice, scotch is also good with a small splash of water (if you don’t like it neat). But if you like the chill of ice, you can also keep some whiskey stones in your freezer so that they’ll be handy for the next time you crack open that bottle.
