This Just in: Restaurant Press Releases in the CoC Mailbox

For some reason I just got a ton of press releases in my email box so I thought I should take care of it all (well most of it) in one shot.

AMMO’s Three Courses Plus 3-Scoop Sundae for $30
This Hollywood restaurant is offering three courses of farm-to-table cuisine for $30 Mondays through Thursday and Friday and Saturday before 7pm. Choose from soup or Caesar salad and one of Executive Chef Julia Wolfson’s signature dishes: citrus-marinated Jidori half chicken, house-made pappardelle or lightly poached Scottish salmon. But the biggest selling point has to be that Build Your Own Sundae Menu allowing you to customize your dessert. A risotto and popcorn ice cream and brown butter sorbet topped with roasted salted pepitas or Tabasco and coconut & curry ice cream topped with chili-candied kumquats?

$160 for a cocktail class plus food?!?! You have got to be kidding me? I know it’s LA. I know cocktails are hot. I know it’s Providence. But really? In this economy? Wonder how many of the 20 turn out to be comp’d bloggers giving free press to the restaurant? For gosh sakes buy a couple of good books, spend the rest of the dough on booze, and make your own at home. Or just sit at the bar and strike up a conversation with the bartenders and take mental notes on how they make your favorite drinks…

    Waldorf Statler,
Yup, like you said, it is Providence, cocktails are hot and it is LA. I don’t think they’re comping bloggers for this event though. If they are, I want in cuz, yeah, $160, is expensivo. I’m curious to see who’s taking this class.
