Eagle Rock’s Colorado Wine Company, one of my fave wine stores evuh!, has so nicely and thoughtfully compiled a list of amazing wines for under $9 in an attempt to get you away from the Trader Joe’s aisle (not that there’s anything wrong with TJ’s, shout out to the gorgonzola gnocchi) and get you drinking vino in these here tough times.
- Butterfield Station Chardonnay 2007, California – $5.99/btl
- Wisteria Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2006, California – $6.99/btl
- LaPlaya Sauvignon Blanc 2008, Colchagua Valley, Chile – $6.99/btl
- Gazela Vinho Verde, Portugal – $6.99/btl
- Wisteria Cellars Chardonnay 2006, California – $6.99/btl
- Baroncini Pinot Grigio 2007, Italy – $7.99/btl
- Crucillon Tinto 2007, Campo de Borja, Spain – $7.99/btl
- Hey Mambo Red 2007, California – $8.99/btl
- Round Hill Chardonnay 2007, California – $8.99/btl
Don’t be scared by the prices. Jennifer and John, the owners of CoWineCo, have impeccable taste and wouldn’t steer you wrong. BTW, J&J, open up a Westside location already!

Which of these is your favorite?
Actually I haven’t tried these since I just got the list today. But I’m thinking of stopping by for their wine tasting tomorrow and maybe picking up a bottle of the Crucillon Tinto and Hey Mambo Red. But that’s just cuz I like reds.
I just discovered a great bottle of Malbec available at K&L for $7.99 (and currently $6.99 at Cost Plus) — Menage a Trois. Not the best name, but pretty darn tasty for the price!
Thanks for this list — going to check them out! :)
Correction – that’s a Zinfandel, not a Malbec! :)
Diana,
Thanks! I’ll check it out! I love Zins.
A FANTASTIC bottle that is a little more than $10, but tastes like a $30 is the 2006 Fontanafredda Barbera Piemonte “Briccotondo.” Cost Plus has it as well as Fireside Cellars on Montana in Santa Monica. I’m sure it’s at Wine House, Wally’s, your local wine shop, etc.
