UPDATE: According to Eater LA, even though Crumbs didn’t open yesterday they still gave out 1,000 cupcakes. And will give away another 1,000 when they finally do open fer real sometime in “the beginning of June.”

Tomorrow a second Crumbs Bake Shop is opening up in Los Angeles, this time in Larchmont Village. And as is proving to be its way, the cupcakery will be handing out free gourmet cupcakes to the first 1,000 customers at its new store. And don’t think of going back for two-sies as it’s a one-per-person deal. Just as well anyway as those cupcakes are hearty!

At the Crumbs opening in Beverly Hills last year, the cupcake giveaway ended before lunchtime as the store was overrun by rabid cupcake lovers eager to welcome the Sprinkles competitor…and get a freebie.

As for myself, I think I’ll sit this one out. Still recovering from last week’s cupcake fest, ya see.
