Do you love salt so much that you carry around little salt packs around with you, that you listed “salt” on your list of things you must have with you on a deserted island and would never throw spilled salt over your left shoulder, not even for luck? Well have I got the events for you: salt tastings!
Salt and Sake at 3 on Fourth
This Santa Monica restaurant has a tasting event every month and March’s event focuses on salt, along with sake.
3 on Fourth’s chef Daniel Snukal showcases the seasoning in a unique tasting menu which utilizes Himalayan salt, “the purest salt in the world.” Each dish is paired with a premium Gekkeikan sake.
Tasting Menu
- Himalayan Salt-seared asparagus and Wagyu beef
- Himalayan Salt-cured halibut and Kampachi Sashimi
- Housemade potato chips with citrus salt
- Sweet cherry port jellies with fleur de sel
And if you’re still famished after the $45 event, there’s a $35 prix fixe dinner available downstairs to salt tasting attendees.
6:30-8 pm. Wednesday, March 26. For reservations, call (310) 395-6765. 3 on Fourth, 1432A Fourth Street, Santa Monica (map).

Would’ve loved to go to both events, but probably passing due to both being on weekday nights — don’t think I want to add the count of maniacal L.A. drivers on the road during rush hours.

Those SALTARTISTS you just gave second billing to with that so-called “chef” from 3 on Fourth invented the Salt Party! Can’t believe his menu is $45 for four items and they’re offering like 30 items for $25 dollars?!!! Any self-respecting foodie out there will go for the value and the real deal at Food Court with the true SALTARTISTS from Saltistry! Seems like a no-brainer to me…guess all great ideas get ripped off by wannabe’s…..

Heh, wow. I listed it chronologically.

sorry my comments seemed so agro…just that I hate to see the pioneers of such a unique and cool venue get overshadowed by a chef who suspiciously has staged his event days before theirs. Seems kind of lame on his part. I’ve been a huge supporter of Saltistry for years and they really are something special. Do yourself a favor and see for yourself:)

Yeah, I’m def going to check out the Saltistry event. The 3 on Fourth one is too rich for my blood.

Sounds like just two different events on two different sides of town by two different establishments. Bottom line? More salt for everyone!

Hey all you Salt Fans!
There’s enough salt to go around! Chef Daniel is a super cool guy at 3 on Fourth and it sounds like his sake tasting is really taking the spotlight on his menu. I would love to go to both events if I can find the funds! I love salt so much - I put salt on my salt.

I just noticed that you used my photo for your advertisement. Thank you for acknowledging where you found the photo but I think you should have invited me to the party. :-)
