Griffith Observatory Finally Reopens Its Parking Lot

Griffith Observatory Reopens

Today the parking ban at Griffith Observatory was lifted! Yay for a return to impromptu star gazing and city light viewing! The ban was lifted after a 60% drop in visitors since the observatory’s reopening last November. Along with the return to the tradition of free parking and park entry comes the long unmoving lines of cars to get to the lot. But at least you can now hike up or bike there if you want to, and without having to make a reservation.

I read about the change this morning and was up there within the hour. By 4pm the lot was open to drive up to but they do close the road if the lot is full in a one car out, one car in deal before that.

My first time up since the reopening and it sure is nicer.
