Save any lives last night? Maybe if you knew how to dj you could have. Well now’s your chance to get your hands on some turntables and show everyone your natural born skills. Scratch DJ Academy, a special school of beats that started in NYC, is opening its doors to the public this Wednesday. If you RSVP ASAP, you can get in on a free class taught by DJs Hapa (director of the Academy) and Quixotic (of Tokio in Hollywood and Dragon in Hermosa Beach).
A six-week course at the Academy usually costs $300 but get an hour-and-a-half taste for free to see if it’s your new calling. Who knows? Maybe before you know it, you’ll be spinning at the hottest clubs in L.A. or become the next Jason Bentley.
From New York Times:
Most of the beginning to advanced classes at Scratch cost $200 to $500, while private lessons cost from $80 to $110 an hour. The programs run on an academic model, with quizzes, final exams and diplomas awarded to those who successfully complete the coursework.
To participate, RSVP with your name, phone number and email address to Val@scratch.com.
EVENT: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20 from 8 to 9:30pm

I fully just signed up for this! I’m so excited, I definitely didn’t think they’d still have open slots at 6:30 the night before, but they did and man am I glad you put this up!
Do you know the Velvets?
Do you mean Velvet Underground? Because if so I have a poster of the Andy Warhol album cover with the huge pop-art banana that says “Nico and the Velvet Underground”. And I have some songs of theirs.
