FREE: Not for Tourists L.A. Guide
Posted by Caroline on Crack under Los Angeles, Other -I thought this was pretty cool. But remember how Not for Tourists was having a release bash and gave away 100 of their L.A. guides to party attendees? Well, if you didn’t make it out to the party and still don’t want to fork over the $21.95 to get your own copy, you can actually go online and print out a PDF of the neighborhood of your choice for FREE! But if you see yourself printing out more than 20 pages, just get the book, notes NFT.
You can just print out a section of your hood and keep it handy for quick reference if you wanna find the nearest bank, liquor store, farmer’s market, video rental store, etc. without having to fire up your Google maps or lift that brick of a yellow pages phonebook.

Just looking at my area it seems hit and miss. They have some stuff but lot is not there. Probably good for people who actually are tourists, not locals.

You’re right about the hit and miss. I looked on Mar Vista and the Venice Grind isn’t even listed under the Coffee category. Blasphemy! But still, it could be handy.

I don’t know how the LA book is put together, but for the New York book, most neighborhood pages were written by people who lived there (or at least walked around it a lot). Maybe the LA book is too knew for that, or there are fewer Angelenos volunteering information. (You can volunteer info in exchange for credit and a copy of the book. Not sure about actual payment though.)

Thanks for the info, lady. :)

Dude. Did I really write “too knew”?

I know. I didn’t want to say anything.

If “too knew” is not for you, you can do as I did and purchase the 2005 version of the book for a buck or so via Amazon.

Thanks for the NFT mention Caroline. And nice call on the Venice Grind omission. You’ll be happy to know that it will be in the 2008 book for sure. If anyone has any more suggestions send them our way: https://www.notfortourists.com/feedback.aspx
