V-Day Follow-Up: What Did YOU Do Last Night?

http://7deadlysinners.typepad.com/photos/vintage_valentines/frigid_air.html

For my V-Day, I ended up grabbing drinks with some single girlfriends at the Arsenal (cuz they wanted to go somewhere near my place even tho that Air Conditioned Lonely Hearts Club thing sounded promising). And that was disappointing. As I had expected there were a lot of girls and a lot of couples out. I knew boys don’t care about this holiday but I figured they would know that on V-Day night their chances of hooking up? Pretty high. Ah well.

With all the buildup to Valentine’s Day and all that scrambling around finding things to do, I just wondered what you all ended up doing last night. Was it fun? Boring? Exceeded your expectations? Who had a great bar scene? Which one was lame? Or did you end up just watching that rerun of Lost (Mikey!). Do tell!

My mom was my Valentine, made her dinner then I chilled on the couch with a glass of wine. I got a call at 11:30pm by a special someone I had been dieing to hear from. We went to the Red Room in Long Beach and the scene was very Anti-Valentines and fun! No couples, all singles, 3 dollar guiness all night!

For Valentine’s Day, we were supposed to do the laundry. But the snow would’ve made it hard to drag the cart to the laundromat, so we just made a simple dinner and played video games. Ah, romance. Actually, that husband guy even forgot all together that it was Valentine’s Day, and was only reminded when he saw that I brought home a small cake from the bakery. This should surprise no one who knows that we were married by an Elvis impersonator.

4 of us gals went out to have drinks around 6:30p, so we made it early home on a ‘school’ night.
Started at Nikki on Market Street in Venice. Half price well drinks/beer and appetizers (fried calamari is actually fresh here).
Then we THOUGHT James Beach would be good afterwards, but we walked in on some live soft jazz band and tons of tables of ’2′. Headed to Canal Club and it was packed with the usual dinner crowd.
    We headed home by 9.

I think guys are scarred from their kindergarten days when little toothless girls would ask “would you be my valentine?”.So that’s why they stay home.

I made two pounds of beef into a meal of sorts for my boyfriend and then we went to bed early.

God I miss the Red Room. That place is good times, all the time.

Like you, I expected lots of single girls and couples, but that was not the case.

The Dive was eh, but all the single fellas were at Barneys.

Well…my boyfriend wanted to surprise me, so the only hints I got were “pack an overnight bag, wear comfy shoes & a jacket, and asked if it OK for me to cab it to work the next morning”.

He picked me up, and we drove to the Sunset Strip. We had an amazing corner suite booked at the Mondrian Hotel, overlooking the Skybar. He then escorted me across the street to Katana, where we had some cocktails & yummy food.

We then headed over to Skybar, and discovered that they were having a Pajama Party – GREAT place for singles by the way. hung out there for a bit and went upstairs to enjoy the rest of the night alone.

The only bad part of the getaway, was the fact that when I woke up the next morning, I had to take a cold shower (hot water was out at the hotel), AND leave my boy sleeping in a bed alone.

Did he walk around with his weenie out or did you just know that from his work?

This has been a private ponder.

I had a date with my eye doctor… new contacts… yay. Then I went home to deal with plumbers who were unclogging my main drain pipe as raw sewage filled the tubs of my bottom level of my home.

    Then I fell asleep.

For Valentine’s Day, I went with this chick I’m dating to some Korean BBQ restaurant in Koreatown. We met with her friend and some guy she’s dating, or something. Between the four of us, we ate an entire cow. I was assaulted by smoke all night, my eyes grew red and buggy and I still can’t take a normal breath.

Then we went to her place. We had sex and she kicked me out. I think she felt obligated owing to the Trader Joe’s truffles I bought her.

    It was a special day.
