Old Is New Again: The Way We Wore’s Biannual Sale

I’ve never heard of this “iconic store” before but when I spotted a listing for it on CitySearch, two things caught my eye: 1) “The Way We Wore”? Genius! and 2) it’s having a sale on its vintage frocks for the next couple of weeks. Of course prices are reported to run anywhere from $20 to $10,000 but it’s worth a looksee if discounts are involved.

From CitySearch:

The iconic store’s biannual event offers rare savings on designer classics from the ’40s through the swinging ’60s and beyond.

Owner Doris Raymond has stocked the place well with treasures dating from the 19th century to the “vintage” ’80s, all of which are well-preserved and secondhand cootie-free, making TWWW a fave of starlets and FIDM students alike.

EVENT: WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7 to FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 16

334 S La Brea
Los Angeles, California 90036
(323) 937-0878
Hours: Tues-Sat 11am-7pm, Sun 12pm-6pm

Do they actually have that Madonna gown and others of that ilk?

No, they don’t have the ACTUAL gown. But according to LA.com, “This upscale vintage shop channels fashion icons like Greta Garbo, Marlene Deitrich, Twiggy and even early ’80s ‘Like a Virgin’ Madonna.”
