Me and my sibs used to be way into alternative comedy, frequenting Luna Park (before it was turned into nightclub Pearl) and Largo. And that’s when we first came across up-and-comers at the time, Tenacious D, Sarah Silverman and David Cross…and then there was Patton Oswalt, a funny, harmless-looking guy with a dark side. So on top of the fact that the Nerd Show is three nerdy guys screening and narrating clips from their fave sci-fi movies, the fact that Patton is involved and this takes place at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre makes it a good bet for a night of hilarity and fun. Advanced reservations are sold out but a limited amount of tickets ($5) are still available at the door so get there early early Monday night to grab a seat.
If you miss out this time, you can always try getting tickets the next night for Patton’s Comedy Death-Ray which he’ll be hosting with Sarah Silverman, plus 20 other comedians doing short sets.

Everytime I read your blog there is always a connection to my life that is a very wild coincidence. I have been obsessed with comedian Zach Galifinakis, Patton, Silverman, and Nick Swarsdon but never have friends that can afford a night out at largo. Every week I look for opportunities to go and they pass by. I maybe am going to go to this Doug Benson event there Tuesday with Zach as the guest. The second show that you mentioned above would be a killer show, but my friend Robert Dean, who comments here at times, wants to check out Miss Jessica Dobson (A singer)in Long Beach. So I may or may not be around for this great event.
Yeah, Largo got so ridiculously expensive that I blame their prices for our not going to those shows anymore. But now I know about UCB Theatre and their $5 shows. Huzzah! The Tuesday show seems to be a reoccuring show with another one on Tues the 30th tho. So if you can’t make this week’s, go to next week’s.
