Not for the staff at The Royale on Wilshire Restaurant or at their other restaurant Mode. The staff were all cut paychecks that bounced and have been plagued with that for the past 3 1/2 months. That's 9 pay periods in a row. Vendors have been picketing the restaurant, because the Royale has not been paying it's food and liquor vendors. One of which they owe $16000. They've been forced to purchase all their alcohol from the liquor stores. The vendors refuse to sell to them any more. They have several judgements against them in LA Superior Court, their accounts are closed, freezed, siezed, and their employees are being turned away from cashing their "paychecks" by multiple banks, and check cashing locations all over LA. The last month alone, kitchen staff have walked out, front of house staff have walked out, their Floor Manager and General Managers have walked out, and as of the day before Christmas Eve...their entire staff walked out "en mass" in the middle of the shift. Guess they finally fed up with having to navigate bounced paychecks for 3 1/2 months straight. Where were the figure heads during this entire time...one was on a plain for his 4th vacation in 2 months, and the owner is hiding, refused to return calls or pay his staff with cash to cover the checks that were written from his accounts so they can pay their bills or provide for Christmas. Sound familiar? Scrooge maybe? The Staff is still waiting to collect on $3000 of event tips that is still owed to them and the likelihood of them seeing is quite grim. So f you have any humanity...you will boycott The Royale as well as Mode untill the pay their people, their vendors and suppliers, their past due debts, and stop pocketing the funds to pad their own pockets, buy their Escalades and take expensive vacations on a regular basis...while their staff struggles to make rent and buy groceries. Not only do they have that huge circular table for a big party but awesome food, an interesting menu. There’s an awesome mac and cheese (which I recommend hogging up for yourself) and you can even order cotton candy for dessert — a fun treat to split.
