Yes, Dre. I loved the cinnamon roll but that eggs benedict’s hollandaise sauce was too lemony. But I ain’t writing it off. And I’d love to check it out after hours!

I think if you accept it for the greasy spoon that it is then you won’t be disappointed. But for those with a more “refined” palate, stick to B&P-type joints.

Dolores is definitely better in concept than in actual practice. Better to try it late at night when your tastebuds aren’t as discriminating. I find their food goes down a lot easier after the late show at the Royal lets out just up the street!

But what about the other time you ate there?? I’ve never been disappointed eating there over the last decade…Talk about YUMMY omlettes, and bugers & fries!

One of these days I’ll get you to go with me in the late night hours so you can experience the TRUE “Do Lo Cafe” way…My most favorite servers of the wait staff will be in attendance…Skeletor (with his shiny white, slicked back hair) and Skeletor Jr (shiny black-dyed hair…attempted to look less senior).

My friend loves DL’s (which he so eloquently renamed Dolores’ many years ago). It became a running joke for years when trying to think of somewhere to eat- he’d obviously throw out DL’s and we’d obviously neg it.

I’m glad that you posted about Dolores’s..it really is a unique place in L.A , especially the Westside. I hope that it won’t be going away anytime soon. I am surprised that it is usually pretty empty versus a place like Norm’s on Pico, which sometimes serves food that is barely edible and sometimes costs more than Dolores’s.
