Remember trip hop? So 15 years ago. Actually when I heard that Massive Attack was doing a show at the Bowl for their first time, I was really excited. I loved Mezzanine. I love the Bowl. But then my bro, whose musical taste I highly respect, said that they’re not as good as they used to be and their new album isn’t all that.
Bummer. But for those who care, this will be MA’s first L.A. appearance in eight years and their last West Coast appearance before returning back East for the last leg of their tour.
All the higher-priced seats (box seats through bench N) are already sold out but that never bothered me since the acoustics in the Bowl are awesome and bringing a good bottle of wine with great company helps the nose-bleeds not hurt as much.
“Experimental art-rock quartet” Gang Gang Dance and “experimental avant-rock group” TV on the Radio will also be performing.

Aww u r so nice to say. But its true! The band make up is not the same as it was on 1998′s Mezzanine…
Now if it were Portishead playing, I’d say let’s make it a date! What ever happened to Portishead?
they don’t have a ‘new’ album, their last was 100th Window from 1993.
and the members touring now are the same as during Mezzanine, so go get your tickets cuz it’s gonna be good.
portishead are currently working on a new album – their first in about 10 years.
100th window was from 2003…
Interesting from wiki:
Massive Attack also returned to the studios to record a new album, Weather Underground. Of the three original members, Del Naja and Marshall have returned to record the group’s fifth studio album. However, they will not be collaborating with each other extensively. Del Naja will be in one studio with producer Neil Davidge, and Marshall will be working from his own studio on the other side of Bristol. Presumably the pair will work more closely on a finished album after their respective batches of tracks are completed. Dot Allison, Horace Andy, Mike Patton, and Mos Def are expected to contribute vocals.
