In an effort to attract even more business to Downtown L.A. the Downtown Center Business Improvement District is sponsoring its 2nd Annual Walk-In Movie Series. June 23 through August 6 Angelenos are invited to the California Plaza on Grand Avenue to enjoy free screenings of five newish films:

Friday, June 23 at 8pm
CRASH
Opens with a DJ set by KCRW’s Tom Schnabel of “Cafe LA.”

Saturday, June 24 at 8pm
AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH
Documentary about Al Gore’s lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change. Meet Al Gore, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora.

Friday, August 4 at 8pm
MOOG
Opens with Moog virtuoso Arlan Schierbaum and dream-funk percussionist Marcus Joseph. There will be a short Q & A with the film’s producer (Ryan Page) and director (Hans Fjellestad) after the screening.

Saturday, August 5 at 8pm
DANCE CAMERA WEST: New Visions for Dance
Opens with LA filmmaker/performance artist Mitchell Rose who will engage the audience with a series of interactive crowd pieces. Called the dance world’s Woody Allen by The New York Times, Rose is a graduate of the American Film Institute whose films have won numerous awards at film festivals, including the Grand Prize for Short Film at Slamdance.

Sunday, August 6 at 8pm
STRANGE FRUIT
Some of L.A.’s best poets & wordsmiths will open the evening.
