75-Cent Dinner Specials at El Coyote Cafe
Posted by Caroline on Crack under Los Angeles, Dining -When I worked on Wilshire and San Vicente (Eastside) years ago, a favorite after-work spot was The Dog, a.k.a. El Coyote Cafe. I never really understood why because the food wasn’t all that impressive to me but apparently after being around as long as this place has been, this L.A. institution is allowed to have some flaws. And after it’s gone on record as serving 1,000 meals a day, what do I know? It must be what are known as the city’s best margaritas that keeps packing ‘em in.
From AOL Cityguide:
Margaritas are the libation of choice, and some call them the best in town. They come in both the house variety and fruity flavors like melon and strawberry, and are always strong enough to trick you into thinking you ordered a double — without having to pay for a double.
In celebration of 75 years in bizness, El Coyote Cafe is throwing the ultimate fiesta. They’ll be serving up 75-cent dinner specials all night long on Monday, March 13th. You can also enjoy their world famous margaritas while listening to the mariachi band and even enter to win prizes (travel tickets, etc.) Arriba!
EVENT: Monday, March 13th all night long

[…] We are looking to fill two 75-year-old foodblogger positions with Statler and Waldorf of the Fairfax restaurant circuit. Old-man bloggers’ first assignment will be to review the 75-cent Anniversary Meal at El Coyote [details] on Monday, 13 March 2006. One week later, old-man bloggers will journey approximately one-half mile westward to review the 75-cent Anniversary Meal at Canter’s Deil [details]. You will then compare and contrast each 75-cent meal, ultimately giving both 75-cent meals either a praise-worthy ‘75-year-old stamp of approval” or disapproving ‘Crochety 75-year-old hates it’ mark of dismissal. Candidates are expected to adhere to Losanjealous style gude and be familiar with HTML. Specifically tables. 75-year-old candidates will also be expected to wax historic hot air reminscences of the first eleven years of their lives, and be able to put down in words what Los Angeles was like when Western Truck Exchange had been in business for a scant twenty years.
