Thanks to fellow nominees 1947project and 8763 Wonderland for bringing this to my attention: Turns out there’s a flaw in the voting system so now I think I’ll take this contest with a grain of salt. to be fair, it *is* hard to make a reasonably hackproof voting system without making a requirement of email registration – and even then i wouldn’t *necessarily* recommend readers cough up an email addy to any third party just to send us some love. still, it’s suspicious and disheartening to see competitors’ numbers start spiking around the time the extremely simple workaround started making the rounds via email.
